ABOUT YOUR PTA

The Westchester Elementary PTA is a non-profit parent teacher association whose membership may include families, staff, and community members devoted to the educational success of our children and the promotion of family involvement at Westchester Elementary School.

The PTA’s mission is to establish a close relationship between home and school by advancing the opportunity for all families to become involved.

The Westchester Elementary PTA:

  • provides assistance to teachers and other staff members

  • raises funds for supplemental educational materials and experiences

  • supports school and family social interaction

  • provides a forum for
sharing information on issues that impact our children

WELCOME LETTER

Hello Wildcats!

On behalf of the entire PTA Board, I would like to welcome your family to the 2020-2021 school year! Though this school year may not begin as previous years, we join you in the anticipation of an innovative and productive year. I am so proud to be returning as the PTA president, and I look forward to continue serving your family and our school. I am eager to share with you some of the plans as we start off this year via eLearning.

This year, our main goal is to encourage and foster a strong Westchester community. Our students will not begin in our school building, but we want all of our wildcats to feel connected and be an integral part of our school family. We also hope to increase active PTA memberships, support the needs of our students while eLearning (and upon return to the school building), as well as continue to partner with administration to provide valuable educational programs and learning opportunities for our students. The PTA would also like to continue to support some old favorites such as Scholastic magazines for each student (also available online through canvas), our book fairs (coming to you digitally this year!!) as well as various grade level specific activities.

As we begin this school year at a distance, we still hope to allow all families the chance to participate and support our school in some fun family-friendly activities and fundraisers. For example, we will be hosting community nights out on a consistent basis. To start out the school year, our first one will be on August 26th at Vito’s Gourmet Pizza (A Westchester PTA Partner) and then on September 9th at Wing’s Plus. We will also continue to work diligently to help families stay informed of school events and important information through our Facebook page (@PTAWestchester), our website (www.westchesterpta.com), and the Member Hub. (westchester.new.memberhub.store to join our PTA).

Our vision to build a sense of community and bring our families together while being socially distant and safe will remain our goal until we receive guidance that allows us to personally interact! This year’s PTA board is full of new ideas and commitment to making this year more than any of us could dream. We are proud to report that we have already begun working with Mrs. Geraine and the school staff over the summer to provide a smooth start to the new school year via eLearning. The PTA is delighted to support each student with some school supply necessities during our textbook and supply pick up on Monday August 17th in the front car loop.

Whether you’ve never been a PTA member or are a committed PTA parent, let this be the year to join me, the board, and the entire Wildcat family as we embark on a quest to ensure that Westchester reaches its greatest potential.  This year will be different, but we can really flourish if we all work together. We would love for you to join us and support our school at our First PTA Meeting Via Zoom on August 21st at 8:30am to learn more about everything that is to come and “meet” other Westchester Parents.
